Hollyhocks

Hollyhocks are a stunning addition to any garden with their towering stalks and vibrant, bell-shaped flowers. To plant Hollyhocks, choose a location with well-draining soil and full sun. Loosen the soil to a depth of 12 to 15 inches and work in about 2 to 4 inches of compost to improve moisture retention and soil fertility. Sow the seeds around 18 inches apart and about 1/4 inch deep in the soil, and then water the area thoroughly. Keep the soil consistently moist until the seeds germinate, and after that, provide about 1 inch of water per week to help the plants establish deep roots. Once established, Hollyhocks require minimal care and will provide a stunning display of flowers in the summer months.
